Some thoughts - I would describe both Eero Saarinen and Herzog & de Meuron as sculptors. Both who used advanced construction techniques well ahead of their time. Eero Saarinen has been described as "mainstream and avante-garde at the same time". Through his use of scale and line work his architecture evokes a feeling of continuing forever. These are the ideas I would like to convey in my monument. Both architects comfort to structural expressionism.
The imagination and diversity within Herzog & de Meurons architecture combined with Eero Saarinen's exaggerated scale presents us with a monument that comments on inspiration that shapes the future.
